Most of us know that the way to lose weight and keep it off is through proper diet and exercise.
So why don’t we do it?
Because it takes more than just knowing what to do. We’re constantly bombarded with messages from the media, gurus with the newest fad, and marketing from food companies. So it’s not as easy as it once was.
Another reason is a powerful force – what’s going on in our minds. From everyday stresses to the way we beat ourselves up and have guilt when we overeat, what’s going on in our minds affect our ability to stick with a weight loss program.
I help you not only with nutrition and food, but I help you overcome obstacles that are both part of daily life and also in our minds.
Working with me, here’s what it will look like:
Nutrition Profile Evaluation
Before the first meeting, you’ll fill out a Health History form. This is a short questionnaire that asks you about your nutrition and health goals, your medical history, sleep patterns, and your eating and exercise habits. This allows me to get a head start on your nutrition assessment before I meet with you.
Assessment – One Hour Quick Start Consultation
We’ll look at where you are right now and what you want to accomplish. We’ll examine your genetics, age, lifestyle habits, stress factors, and work environment. We’ll also go through a detailed diet history to learn your eating/meal schedule and food preferences.
We’ll look at the challenges that keep you from making healthier food choices, your past experience(s) with weight loss, what type of eater you are, any health concerns, and any aversions or challenges you have regarding exercise. Most importantly, we look at why you want to lose and get healthy and why you haven’t been able to in the past.
Bi-Monthly Follow-up Coaching and Mentoring Calls
These visits are critical to your success. Follow-up visits provide support, accountability and allow for ongoing nutrition education. We’ll meet via phone to review your progress, keep you moving forward, give you next-steps to tackle, and adjust your plans if necessary. I’ll coach and guide you to take the exact steps you need to succeed.
———> During your Coaching Calls, here’s what we’ll work on:
Identify Obstacles
With this information, I assist you in setting realistic goals and creating a life plan for weight loss and maintenance. We focus on identifying your real obstacles, clarifying what’s important to you, and creating a plan to remove, change or work around your obstacle(s).
We’ll also look at how to manage other areas of your life and how to balance family, work, and our busy lifestyles. I’ll also show you how to choose the best foods in different situations such as eating on the go, at work, eating out, and feeding your family.
Making lifestyle changes
Those who keep the weight off adopt healthier eating habits, reshape their relationship with food, change their mindset, and add exercise to their lifestyle. In our coaching sessions we meet (via phone) to look at what’s working for you, what isn’t, and what adjustments you may need to make. You will get real life strategies for changing your eating and exercise habits, such as how to shop smarter, read labels, tips for eating at work, and incorporating regular exercise or physical activities into your lifestyle.
Mindset
We’ll also identify your relationship with food and it’s impact on your weight loss. We’ll look at any guilt surrounding food and show you how to find real pleasure in food
We’ll also look at how you perceive yourself, your capabilities, and the world around you. We look at what you tell yourself when you give in to the easier choice, and other thought patterns that keep you stuck. You will learn how to think differently, develop inner control, and stay committed past our coaching sessions.
