What a great post! I found you via MizFit. I loved this: Weight-loss is simply a step in the process — of becoming more of who you are, who you want to be, getting what you want out of life, and being healthy on the outside AND on the inside.

I am a perfect example. I have lost weight, got fit, kept fit & yet the elusive "really liking yourself" is still elusive. Losing weight does not automatically lead to that happiness for sure.

Thx for this post that I do know too much about! :-)

I so agree. New Years resolutions are a complete waste of time and energy. The moment I decided to concentrate on get healthy (this was a while back now) and change my life (both mind and body), things are much easier. And that is all it takes...a conscious decision to change the way you live your life.

@Deb -- I agree that often it's a control issue. And for many, food is the one thing they (feel they) can control, so they do. But it's the things they feel they can't control that they need to work on. And so often we CAN control those things!

@Michelle -- SO happy this post helped you today! And yes, it's all about transformations..both inside and out! I'm looking forward to helping you make 2010 a great year!!

This is a post which I needed today.

To be totally honest i have found myself obsessing about the weight that I have to lose, looking at other people bodies.

I am a mad woman.

This obsession doesn't do anything for me. I don't work out, I eat crappy food..etc. It's like I spend so much mental energy on being something that I am not..that I don't actually get to what I want to be at.

What i love is that it's not about losing weight..it's about a life transformation, letting go of the past and making the present the best it can be.

The old Michelle is doing the best she can to make it into 2010.

No way. No How.

Thanks. Happy New Year! ~Michelle

"You can eat all the salmon, broccoli and brown rice you want but it won’t bring you fulfillment."

I love the sentence above, Dineen! It's so very true. You can eat really well and feel very vigilant and accomplished. And yes, it's healthy and good for you. But I totally get what you mean by this. I think so much of it is about 'control'. If we feel in control of our situation, we feel better about ourselves. That's just one of about a zillion components regarding weight issues though- as you well know! Thanks for the post!
